My 13 yr old daughter is going to camp for July. She was offered a job for August in a local day camp. We live in Monsey. She would be a junior counselor. They are offering $300. Is that the going rate? It sounds very little to me

Yes $80 a week for 8th grader, $90 for 9th etc.

It’s higher than here. Mine is getting $100 plus tips. But she gets free lunch, endless canteen, bus, and some staff trips. She’s happy so I’m happy.

13 is very young. Camps use that age as almost free slave labor ( give them all the dirty and not fun jobs).

Depends on the camp. DD is working for a family member. She has been involved from day one with the song, theme, activities, art and crafts, etc. she is going to be treated as an equal not a slave.
She is going to a really fun teen camp one half and working the other half.

Mine is a regular jr counselor at 13.
