Hi,

How often do you all do laundry? How do you split your loads?
I feel like I don't have a set schedule of when I do it and it always ends up being a mess

I'm amazed when people ask for laundry schedules. My machines (washer and dryer) run for hours every day, six days a week. It never seems to end. And my family is on the small side. I have no idea how others manage. We'd have a mountain of clothes and nothing clean to wear if we had to wait for scheduled wash days. Maybe I'm doing something very wrong.

Motzai shabbos I sort all the laundry into three categories, whites, delicates, and everything else. It’s usually 5 loads. I start with the delicates motzai shabbos because a lot of it is hang dry and by noon Sunday usually all the loads are done. Sunday night once my toddler is sleeping I sort and put away everything. I have five kids aged 2-11. It’s a big job and I kvetch all Sunday about it but then I don’t look at laundry till motzai shabbos again. This does not include linen. That is done on a different schedule.

We are two adults, one kid.
Friday is our main laundry day (we are in israel)
My husband works from home 2 days a week so he does a load if needed on that day as well.

Family of 8. I find I need to do all the clothes laundry twice, my kids don't necessarily have eight pairs of pants etc.

I sort into whites, darks, lights, dark delicate, light delicate/baby

I start motzai with the darks and then the lights, both of which I dry and then I put the whites in which soak for a few hours so I don't mind if it runs overnight.

Next day I hang white shirts, & do the delicates- hang them & fold.

I do this again on Wednesday. Monday I wash bath towels & mats.
Tuesday I do linen on a schedule (e/o gets washed every other week).

Nothing Thursd/Fri. This way I can focus on shabbos.
(Im a sahm, but I had a similar schedule when I worked only different was I had to wake up early on Wednesday so I could get two loads in and then let the whites soak while I was at work.)

I have a sectional hamper so all the laundry is already sorted and all the loads get done between motzaei Shabbos and Sunday.
(We all have enough clothes to get through the week.)
I have a cleaning lady Tuesdays, so if it isn’t folded by then she will fold, but I don’t like leaving it for her.

Family of 7. When we have a long motzei shabbos I do around 4 loads right after shabbos ends and 2 more Sunday am. I usually do another 2 loads midweek. I have a high capacity machine so we are talking nice size loads. Everything goes in the dryer. No patience for clothing that needs to be air dried.

When shabbos ends super late I split the laundry between Friday and sunday. I dont want to do laundry every day.

I don't have an ironclad schedule. I may do one load a day or three or four loads in one day, depending on what we have, what we need, what else I have to do and what I feel like doing.
I also don't have a lot of clothes. This means that I have to do my own laundry roughly once a week. I do each load when I see I'm low on that class of clothes.
Bed linens I change every Friday. I used to wash them Motzash or Sunday, but now I usually do them Friday morning and put them back on the beds when they're dry. Towels, I change weekly but wash once in two weeks to get a full washload. In winter I do on Motzash laundry that in summer I can do on Friday.
Hubby does his own wash whenever. Sometimes I take a few of his colored things to do with my colored laundry, because, as I said, I don't have a lot of clothes and I rarely have a full load of just my colored stuff. Why do just my few things when I can fill the machine?
All our laundry is for the most part already sorted. We have multiple hampers and baskets, so I don't have to spend time sorting before washing.

when I had little kids, I washed 2 loads - dark and light - early in the week then again later in the week. Now everyone is grown so I just wash when we need something or when the load is full. I keep a ton of hampers lined up so I dont have to sort at all.

separate hampers for:

dh's whites
pj pants
my work clothes done on gentle and warm
my exercise clothes
socks
delicates
towels = even those I divided up into hand towels, wash clothes and bath towels. a hamper for each.
linens done on hot every week

We sort the laundry as it comes off, and I wash everything Sunday, and do a load or two of kids stuff sometime in the middle of the week

Family of 4 and I do laundry once a week. Sunday night I sort and treat and stains. Dark delicates, light delicates, whites and towels. I do dark delicates Sunday night so the stuff that's hung is already dry by morning. This way I can also throw PJs in with the light delicates in the morning so nothing gets left in the hamper. Everything is done by Monday afternoon and packed away before supper time. I can't handle doing laundry every day.

Linen gets done every other week on Wednesdays when the [gentile woman] comes. And if and when there's inevitably an accident that gets washed separately right away

We do laundry like this..
Sundays- colored, whites,
Tuesdays- towels and linens
Wednesdays- colored and whites
Erev Shabbosim- whatever’s in the hamper that’s dark
We reuse skirts for my girls and me along with pajamas and pants for the boys and my husband if their clean..
and then we start again.. if Yontiff falls on any of those days we rearrange accordingly
