My grade just had our 10th grade reunion. It looked like a 9th grade party with everyone sitting with their high school cliques and not even turning around once to greet the girls sitting on the other side. I sat with my friends and had a good time but I was really looking forward to catching up with my classmates I hadn't seen in years. I tried making eye contact or talking to girls but they ignored me and continued talking to their friends. It felt like I was invisible to them. Not worth just to be greeted. My friends felt the same way. The next morning I sent a message on the grade chat saying that some girls came home from the reunion feeling unseen and we should work on greeting everyone as a grade and in zechus of making everyone feel welcome we should merit yeshuos. I started getting calls from the heads that they were upset that they worked so hard on the reunion and I'd put a a damp on the whole thing. What are your thoughts about this?

I mean I agree with you in essence
But if someone said that on my grade chat it would come across as a little socially off/not reading the room
That's just the impression that it would give, but otherwise you're totally right
People don't change.

I’ve heard similar sentiments from someone at her 40th or 50th reunion….

I stopped going to reunions for this reason. I used to make an effort to go, travel 3 hours round trip, just to see grown adults that have teenagers themselves, behave like high school girls. It's not worth the effort for me.

This is why I’m not upset that no one is making the effort anymore

I don't think it's socially off, I think OP did the right thing. Those that can't handle it, are immature high school girls.

I never go to reunions. I keep in touch with my friends, and I have no interest in seeing the high school social scene replay.

You are so right and very smart to point it out since some people don't even notice that they are acting that way.

I hear the head though too, that they don't want a neg comment after the event. But I think you were right for saying it.

Maybe in the future you can suggest to whoever arranges these reunions to plan some funny games that will cause everyone to interact and have a good time, and have time for chatting after that once everyone is comfortable with each other and in a good mood.
