I have a technical question: Is it possible to have a video file in your computer's 'temporary internet files', that was put there by a website without you knowing about it?

I think that it is possible. I checked my folder on my computer and there is tons of stuff there (no video files) and I didn't put any of it there. That folder is used by websites to store graphics and other things. They could put anything there. There might be a setting somewhere to block things being stored on your computer, I know you can stop cookies from being saved.

My DH told me the only way it can get there is if you visit the site and download it.

Thanks ahuvah.
But if the history has already been deleted, is there any way I could still find out?

You can check the cookies if you want. That might help you out.

Here is software I recommend you first download the trial version and if you like it, you can purchase it, the name is Undelete 5 and the link is: http://consumer.undelete.com

this should help you find things that were deleted, even after the recycle bin has been emptied.

It's totally possible to have video files and all kinds of other stuff on your computer without you knowing it.

but, as someone said before you do have to go to a site and then while you are there they can send you something. You can also go to the security level of your computer and set it to high and that way you have to be asked before anything is sent to you. Before anything is opened or downloaded my computer asks me if I want it virus scanned, it doesn't automatically scan everything it has to ask me. That way I know what is entering my system.
