It is a historic high. Does the promise of lower corporate tax and deregulation factor in or is this leftover from the Obama administration or both?
Can anyone please explain?

Taxes affect me more than the stock market. I don't see what difference it makes to me whether stocks are high or low, except as a small part of the greater economic outlook.
As such it is forward-looking, at future possibilities. They seem pretty rosy now for big corporations, because of tax cuts and deregulation. Having a friend in the WH certainly boosts confidence.
