I'm trying to set up a room/board living situation in exchange for childcare help for my two kids aged 3 and 2. The person would have their own bedroom and bathroom. What would you say is the appropriate number of hours per week to ask for? Any more on top of this and we would pay a regular babysitting fee.

Check your state laws. Some states have wage and hour laws that protect domestic workers like permanent sitters or housekeepers. NY is one.

How much is room/board worth? Divide that by hourly rate and that's how many hours its worth. If rent is worth $600 a month and you would normally pay $12/hr for babysitting, that's worth 50 hours a month
