Signs are he's ready but not catching on??

Hi all,

My 2 and 1/2 year old DS seems to be ready to be trained. He always tell me to change his nappy when he's wet or dirty and he seems to be interested in the toilet - watches my dd etc. But I've been trying the last 3 days and he doesn't seem to be getting that he has to go to the toilet when he needs to make, but he knows enough not to make in his undies - I guess the few accidents he had he felt really uncomfortable so he avoids it. He's not scared of the toilet anymore. He's made wee a few times.

Should I give it a rest? Do I just take the attitude that if it doesn't go smoothly he is not ready? My DD caught on in 1-2 days at the same age.

Big bird, please do not give up so easily. I'm surprised no one told you that girls are usually easier to toilet-train compared to boys. I have boys only, and had a rough time with my first one.

Right now, I am allready in my third week of training with my second son, and am seeing progress, but definitely not complete.

My son is 2.5, and has an interesting not-the-typical vice versa issue with #1. Normally I'd say kids have a fear of going #2, and that usually ends up in being an accident one or twice a day.
My son is trained for #2 for over two weeks, and wets his pants several times a day though. I am so perplexed, but will definitely not give up at this point. I hope he'll somehow get the knack of how to tell me before he needs to go #1. If anyone has any suggestions, it's appreciated.

maybe he just not ready yet? I kept trying my ds a few times he was not ready yet . I just trained my ds 2.8 he had no clue what to do when he was on the toilet
but once he started making he caught on very fast b'h. as far as making #2 he was afraid to do it .
he held him self back but b'h once he did it he's totally trained now!
btw my dr told me I shouldn't force him if he doesn't want to make I should put on pamper he will do it.

My son is 3 1/2 and has the same issue - will do #2 in the potty (a bit scared of the toilet), but is oblivious to #1 coming out. I put on underpants & he'll go 10 min. later and then again in another 10 min.! I tell him to go. He'll say his pants are wet but not his underpants. After a bath, I'll tell him to go, but if he doesn't he'll go on the floor when he's not dressed. BUT, he will wake up dry in the am!!! I can't figure it out! Plus he was sick & totally lost control last week, fever and in bed, so I put pull ups on him. The first day he told me when he was accidently wet, now he's better & doesn't want to wear underpants but still #2 in the potty. He's 3 1/2 & at home still, but I cannot figure it out - he's my 3rd boy. Not too rare then...

girls train quicker than boys ...

instead of waiting for him to have to make - take him to make at specified times ... when he wakes up - before he naps - before and after eating ... he will get the hang soon enough

a few accidents are par for the course ...

also make sure to have a potty chair & a step stool if the regular toilet is too high for him to stand ... and make sure he is leaning the front of his legs against the toilet so he pees in the bowls ... (you can gently hold one hand on his tush and push his body forward till he gets the idea)

Any suggestions? He has been toilet trained for #2 for at least 9 months. But he simply won't remember to make on the potty by himself for #1. If he is not wearing any diaper or pants he will remember to go for the most part. The second he is wearing anything he forgets.
