2012- $1600 for a 2 Bedroom old apartment. Tiny kitchen with no counter space and 2 people couldn't be in there at the same time and open the fridge. No central air. Plus we paid electricity and gas bills. And we had a pay per use disgusting washing machine out back. I used a laundromat.
Los Angeles prices. Same apartment now would be at least 3500, more if renovated.

£160 PCM (around $250 at the time)
5 bedroom, 2 or 3 floor houses (some with basements as well) were selling around £60,000 then, tiny gardens.
Shame I didn't buy up a whole street, had I only known how much that real estate would be worth 30 years down the line!

2012: $1100, 1.5 bedroom apt. Teeny tiny kitchen and legit no closet space. Boro Park.
My mom paid like I think $600 for a 3 bedroom walk up apartment in 1991.
I'm now considering turning my basement into a furnished/studio apartment because with one bedroom and no dining room basement apartments are going for 2k. I think it's obscene but with a bunch of kids and a bunch of expenses, I might just do it, despite my conscience being torn about it.

Pretty sure it was $850.
Basement with one bedroom. Furnished. Small apartment (kitchen/living room was one room and not a very large one) but it was set up nicely and had a nice washer/dryer in a closet.
Moved out when first DC started to crawl. There was enough room for a newborn in a pack n play but not to move around.
