I've not enjoyed it so far. It is a shame to have a character with, what seems at the moment, a shallow reason to divorce.
She was angry because he was following the election news on a kosher website in his lunchbreak. She seems to think she should be married to somebody on a higher level then her middos deserve.
More may come to light but that appears the extent of it at the moment. Her family and friends thought he was a good guy and his family were paying their rent rather than her father (except recently) as her family struggle financially (which can make it harder to find a good learner)
No mention yet of her having a job.

It does sound a little more than that. Her mil sounds obnoxious and is pushing her to be a perfect wife to her masmid son. I can hear how it’s jarring to be pushed like that, when the son doesn’t sound like such a masmid at all.

Good point because they definitely won’t have a story about [filth] addiction in the Ami.

Right. I'm not saying this is grounds to jump to divorce...but it was more that he was super into "hotlines" (sounded like he was accessing political podcasts by phone) and spending all his time between sedarim on line checking out politics and discussing them endlessly with his chevra and brothers. And sounds like she was from a different world where that was not ok at all, and maybe she could have overlooked a small interest in politics but not this full immersion.

But this isn't reason for divorce.
She seems very selfish & immature. She doesn't care about her daughter & doesn't want to get a job. It seems like she doesn't want to put effort in to anything in her life (including her marriage) & just wants to be free to do whatever she wants while expecting others to fund her life & care for her child.
So far, the story is quite silly & this weeks segment was just so unoriginal.

Right then I wanted to say something so badly, but I did not want to hurt the author’s feelings in case she’s on here.

You don't think that happens in real life? You don't think some get divorced because of immaturity?

What the heck is wrong with Ami to take such poor writing ?

I've been saying this for years now!!!

Their fiction writing or so called real stories are beyond.

They've in recent years began employing more of their family. One of their popular writers is their daughters and Malky, who writes the front page of whisk is their daughter too.

They seem to use the same writers again and again. It's kind of boring. Zionce shold have stayed in his lane, Victoria Dweck was great for Whisk but why does she and Dina Neuman randomly do investigative pieces too? It's really strange. Most writers have a specific niche theyre best at. Why mush everything around?

I am seriously thinking of changing my subscription to Mishpacha. I bought it last week and enjoyed it immensely. Such high caliber writers.

I feel disrespected by Ami living. Do they think they can charge what they do and get away with seriously flawed writing??? The Jewish world wants better quality at this point.

I do think that Aim is still the most interesting, well written and informative children's magazine. I give them that.

About Dina Newman I feel like she literally writes most of the Ami and aim

The aim editor is a daughter too! Just a more talented one.
I agree the aim is excellent, I like lunchbreak too and the stories by devory kreiman. And the back page. Otherwise I'm not a fan. I don't buy it, get it second hand and I buy the mishpacha.
I do find that for bigger issues like yom tov and health issue etc they do very well with lots of interesting topics.

I just want to mention, I love her back page! But I don't appreciate when I see a cover story by her. I want more styles. Turx was great for the diversity of Ami pages but even he's gone now.

Yes, their YT additions are usually spectacular with lots of varied styles and writers. The writing quality is much better then.

I like the first two pages of Ami, Rabbi Moshe Taub and John Loftus are a nice read too. But there isn't much else.

I have decided to switch to Mishpacha, I'm finding there's less and less in Ami Living and with Mishpacha there's a lot more to read in the main magazine then Aim. My daughter used to get Mishpacha and the serials were great.
My younger DD is not impressed as she really likes Aim, it's a pity you can't buy it by itself! Anyway we've compromised on waiting until Terror Island has finished!

This is absolutely a ridiculous discussion. Anyone who doesnt like ami is free to leave. Gives you no right to publicly bash a magazine and specific writers. You want to talk about the story no problem but dont use this platform for pure lashon hara.

I feel like the paper quality is better than the other magazines. Ami has a glossy like feeling while others have a newspaper feeling and not so glossy.

The circle is the best kids magazine.
There’s definitely a crazy amount of ads relative to actual content in almost all Jewish magazines across the board.
I happen to love the ariella Schiller story currently going on in the main mishpacha magazine. The Shana rishona couple. The story itself is ok but the writing is excellent.
