My girls and I love Dina Newman. Her writing style is very similar to mine, and my kids are always squealing that they can totally hear me say this and that. It's like looking in the mirror.

Yes, their YT additions are usually spectacular with lots of varied styles and writers. The writing quality is much better then.

I like the first two pages of Ami, Rabbi Moshe Taub and John Loftus are a nice read too. But there isn't much else.

We were just discussing this because we spend way too much money buying both magazines, but my husband is hooked on John Loftus... I love Rabbi Taub but I haven't seen columns by him recently.

That said, this past weeks Ami Living was pretty good.

dear I say... maybe people on this site don't like it because it actually talks about the negatives of divorce...

No. We’re discussing the quality of the writing, not the story.

I don't mind that aspect. I don't like that the characters reason to divorce (so far) doesn't compare to divorced women I know.

Reading IMA threads also show women in terrible marriages who are still loathe to divorce.

Yes there may be women (or men) who divorce too easily, but I think the focus on this is a disservice to women who go through ghastly experiences.

Why can’t she get a job and live in her own apartment? Is she supposed to be 18 years old?

And she's sharing a room with her teen sister while her child is sleeping in the den... this whole story makes no sense.

Very immature writing.
Meaning The writer seems like a beginner.

Maybe there are people who are objecting to it because of the portrayal of divorce.

And if so?

People don't have the right to object to stereotyping and stigmatization of already vulnerable people?

Good point because they definitely won’t have a story about [filth] addiction in the Ami.

disagree mishpacha has written two stories abt pxrn, they just call it "shmutz" and because it is sucha common issue these days I feel like ami would totally address it

the defensive manner in which the first few posters responded would suggest this. There's literally a thread on every serial, why the surprise?

Unfortunately among the younger crowd, this is an extremely accurate portrayal of what is going on. Girls married for 2-3 months, get divorced later because "they did not like him" or "he was not for me". I think this conversation is vital, especially now that divorce is becoming more common. People need to be aware, its the sad reality

Ami has covered this extensively so having a story on this makes a lot of sense for them.

I didn't find this one confusing, tho I'm presuming we'll get more info in the next installments.

It does seem to be poorly written. When reading this weeks installment I could not remember reading the one from last week. I was going to come on here to ask what the first installment was about.

It’s so easy to hire good quality editors. I don’t know why they seem to write on a low level on purpose.

So far I am liking the plot.
I relate to it very much.

It’s very common in my circles. One spouse normal with reasonable internet access, and the naive spouse that thinks the other is a complete kofer by having any internet access.

It’s not the immaturity. It’s the complete shelteredness she was raised with and all of a sudden her father expects her to understand that her husband is normal.

It’s the disconnect from what girls are taught to the realities of life. And the very common dynamics of a chasm that is created because of this idea of flip phone people and smartphone people.
