We use chrain on RH.
DH learnt in Telshe for many years, and it was well known that R Ely Meir Bloch- RY and founder in Telshe Chicago originally from Lita would put chrain on his fish for Oneg Yom Tov.

Different strokes and they're all appropriate. We also eat for oneg yom tov though we avoid some of the biggies for RH, or at least for that to be the dominant taste.
I wonder if the chrain was sweetened.

I'm glad I'm seeing this before making my fish.
My family likes marinated salmon, which has some apple cider vinegar.
I'll ask Rav about that
