What do you mean? Tons of people are from Dovid Hamelech. The Noam Elimelech traces his lineage back all the way to Dovid Hamelech in the beginning of his Haggadah.

There is some paper about it, called the Rashi descent. Mathematically based on the amount of ancestors every Ashkenazi Jew has, they are likely to be related to every Jew of the Rashi era, or something along those lines. I think there's no actual proof but it makes sense. We know we're all cousins if you go back far enough, it's just how far do you need to go back...

ETA My cousins are decendents too and they have a very hard time in shidduchim. They marry different Lefkowitz cousins. I guess the family is big enough.
