Very awkward to talk about it.
ETA My cousins are decendents too and they have a very hard time in shidduchim. They marry different Lefkowitz cousins. I guess the family is big enough. |
Just saying I’m a lefkowitz einikel, my family bh has very easy time in shidduchim, in fact easier than most people. We have a lot of very gelungene, talented, popular individuals with beautiful families in our branch.
The divrei yoel did not hold of this rumors…

Bumping this up because it got lost in the shuffle.
Anyone else from the Wolk Family.
Not many branches survived because it's a Lithuanian family.
But im curious if I'll find distant cousins.

I have relatives named Zorich!! I think was Zeidy Shimon's father no? |
Yup!
So we're cousins through marriage (DH is from a different branch named for the Zaida Zurich) and we share cousins via the Bubby Shifra Miriam whose descendants married into the family (like me)
Did you also recently get a letter about the kvarim restoration for the elteren?
Oh, and I think that means you're a descendent of the Megaleh Amukos mentioned above (any Nosson Nuta relatives would be named for him)

Not related but there was a Wolk family in Baltimore at one point... There was an article in the Binah Sept 5, '22 about Laykie Wolk... Funnily enough (and oh so appropriate to this thread) her quote on that cover was:
"Yichus isn't something you boast about; make sure your yichus can boast about you"

That is funny. I'll have to see if I can find that Binah.
The Baltimore Wolks are closely related to me. Im wondering about more distant Wolk descendants

They”ll say they’re a grandchild of xx who has been known to say they’re a descendant of dovid hamelech. They won’t have names for every generation to prove it.
I’m very into genealogy and have proven it right to people who’ve shown me their so called lineage and we saw there’s a gap in generations. (Like they’ll have 20 names in a place where there should’ve been 30 because it goes till a well known person who’s been said to a grandchild of his and maybe another few generations higher and then it’s missing a certain amount of people till David hamelech)
I’m not sure why people hearted my posts.
It is a well known topic to anyone into genealogy. It is actually fascinating.
https://aish.com/davidic-line-today/ “… Beyond that, there is no concrete evidence as to the whereabouts of King David’s descendants.…”- (excerpt from article explaining what is known about his descendants)
Look it up there are many articles on this topic. |
The Lubavitcher Rebbe is from Dovid Hamelech. All the generations are listed. This is through the Maharal of Prague.
So anyone from the Maharal of Prague can trace this.
Dovid Hamelech is 33rd generation from Adam Harishon. Maharal is 114 from Adam, 81 from Dovid Hamelech.
The Alter Rebbe was 119 from Adam. Ben achar Ben from Dovid Hamelech
I have a copy of the list but don’t know how to post on my slow phone.

I see there's quite a few descendants of R' Shmuel Kamada here.
My mother's maiden name is actually Frankel.

If it was just a rumour, shame it wasn't disapporoven. There was no way of disproving it because the facts didn't add up.
BTW, it's got nothing to do with how gelungen your family is. My family is too!!! They have fantastic personalities, have wealth and gorgeous families.
BUT
If it is true? It's not so simple.
I know many many people will not touch a lefkowitz. It's NOTHING personal! But this is a serious matter.

well then our ancestors likely knew each other. I am descended from R' Yaakov Fisch of Kalev.
Also (little more recently) of R' Hershele Liske.
And the Maareh Yecheskal (Paneth family).

Maybe there were no responses because it's a small family....
