Practical question, I would like to attach a kvittel but how do I polish and wash the menorah? Can I remove it? Wont it get wet?

This borders on avoda Zara. You should ask a Rav if it's okay.

Faith in Hashem is the best segula

Why?

I don't think anyone thinks that the menorah is going to answer them. They are asking for Hashem to answer them in the zechus of the mitzvas menorah and the kedusha of Zos Chanukah.

If a tzadik who is bigger than all of us says it’s an inyan, I would be very careful saying it’s avoda zara. You might not hold by it, but that should be where it ends. The practice of people saying that practices they they don’t personally keep are avoda zara has to stop. The resulting machlokes is literally keeping moshiach away.

Where is the source for the note tying?
It sounds like one person did this out of depths of emotion for a yeshua, basing it on the Ohr Hachaim leaving a note at the kosel.
When their yeshua BH arrived, they publicized it out of hakaras hatov and a desire to show niflaos haborei.
And that became a magic formula.
There is no source.
It's a holy time, that's for sure.
Tefillos from the depths of the heart have an incredible power even more so with kedushas hamakom and zman.
But beyond that, there's no source to say a tzadik says it's an inyan.

You dont need to tie anything to the menorah for that.

Even if there is no inyan but something of good heart why does it become Avoda Zara ? At most it should just be something foolish... Like the story of the man who put challos in the aron kodesh each week who thought Hashem was kavyachol eating them

It's a kvittel to Hashem that you tie to a menorah which is a davar kedusha during an eis ratzon (zos chanukah).

A kvittel to Hashem doesnt need to be tied to a davar kedusha.
Imagine if we tied tefilos to our shabbos candles every Friday.

Thanks for the reminder! Every year I plan to do it, and forget.

Does it have to be the lat night, when candles are burning? Or could it be today too?

I’m laughing bec on the other thread about zos chanukah I asked if this whole idea of zos Chanukah is a chassidish thing bec I am Litvish and never heard about it. And pple said oh no it’s not about chassidish or Litvish.. but reading this I am very clear that it definitely has chassidish roots.

It is brought down in sefarim from the Talmidei Baal Shem Tov.

What is brought down is that it is the end of all the yamim tovim of Tishrei and the end of the final din of the year (The Berdichever, the Kedushas Levi, brings down that Purim is the final, final day), so it is similar to Hoshana Rabba, where we are mispallel that our tefillos should be answered to be zoche to a good year. The Abir Yaakov (a previous Sadi Gur Rebbe) writes that what Tzaddikim gedolim can do on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, pashute Yidden can do on Zos Chanukah.

I taped on my bakasha with scotch tape under the base. I recently had the menorah lacquered so I won’t have to polish it during the year. I’m desperate for a specific yeshua so I figured it cant hurt to try. I guess whatever is meant to be…

I did this last Hanukkah and had my bakasha granted!!

Bumping this old thread, because I think this is the one I read that inspired me to try it.

Since last Summer there was a project I wanted to do, I tried starting it a few times and it went nowhere, gave up, by Hanukkah time last year I thinking it would remain a pipedream, but I really really wanted it. Wasn't sure I was even capable of doing it, especially since I tried a few times and didn't get anywhere.

I'm posting this under my screenname, so I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say my goal was akin to running a marathon -- something a lot of people might want to do but few actually finish.

Last Hanukkah I read of the Zos Chanukkah segula. On the 8th night, I wrote a note, thanking HaShem, asking that I succesfully finish this project, and promising to publicise if I was succesful.

At first, it seemed to go nowhere. I said "okay, I'll allow myself to just do preliminaries until July, but if this doesn't get off the ground by July, I have to give up and move on".

July (2024) I got really serious, and saw much success, and only days before Hanukkah, I finished!!!

I really do feel like it is a neis, for two reasons (1) the few false starts which seemed like derech hateva, and (2) that I finished right before Hanukkah.

I have another, similar project in mind, actually already started, and on the 8th night I will do the same segula for success on this follow up project.

❤️
