Hi ladies
Im posting for my daughter who is in shana rishona in Israel. She said signs are going up that there will be a chicken shortage during ramadan. How does that work exactly? She can't prebuy. Her freezer is tiny.

Because the Arabs aren’t working. She had to buy enough for before and 2-3 weeks after.
This also applies to 9 days, if you don’t buy before, you won’t have chicken for 2 weeks after

I don't think there are very many Arab shochtim. 🙄
They are, however, involved the the packaging and transport side of things. They do work during Ramadan, but they are also having big meals every evening. The mehadrin hechsherim tend to be less affected.
She can stock up a bit, and cope with a shortage if necessary. Ramadan will coincide with Adar this year, so there's still about six weeks to go. The government will make sure there are chickens for Pesach.

Oh man is it Ramadan time already? Let's hope for a quiet one this year.
Anyway, there's no need to worry. It will affect supply for 2-3 days or so, and only of fresh chickens - stores should still have frozen chicken. It's good to be aware (and to stock up if you live off chicken - I know you said her freezer is tiny, but if it's as big or bigger than 2 chickens it could still work) but no need for anything more.
