Is it hard to be a copywriter

I work as a special ed provider. I noticed that copywriting is in demand lately. I enjoy writing and I’m creative. I’m not that organized and I hate paperwork. I want to take Michal Eisikowits course this year but not sure… Does copywriting make money? Is it hard to get clients. Do you get burnt out?

Both of these fields require aptitude/talent.

Probably copywriting requires more talent since it really depends on your creative abilities

Web design is also a creative field but you also need to know software to actually "create" the website and most websites are more dependent on the software and aren't dependent completely on one's creative design talents.

I considered this recently too . I ve been teaching writing for many years. I also edit essays and other high school writings.
I thought it would be a good fit for me. However, I’m not social, and I don’t like to market myself. Somehow, it seems more about the marketing than the skill? For me, that was a deterrent.

If there’s anyone here that knows more, I d love some insight….

very interested to learn more. Can someone explain a day in the life of a copywriter? How did you even get started in this field? What is the pay etc. Would love to learn more as it sounds like something enjoyable.

Im a copywriter, been doing it for the past 7 years. At this point I freelance full time, but I started out in house.
It takes a lot of innate skill/talent. A course can only take you so far, and most people walk out sounding exactly like everyone else.

The field is currently flooded with newbies and wannabes. To stand out you need a really good portfolio. If you can, get an in-house job so you can learn.

Copywriting is a completely different type of job from special ed. In special ed assume you either have a salaried job or work for an agency that gets you cases.

Most people who copyright own their own business and have to self-promote. You're constantly looking for clients in the beginning. You have no reliable way of getting them. You don't know how long it will take to build up your name or if you ever will. You work alone and take care of everything, from advertising to billing. Both the things that are your skill set and the ones that are not.

It can be a great field but come in prepared.

In an ideal world, get an entry level job and learn as you go..probably not realistic for you though
Keep your day job, take a course (or not), read as much as you can on the subject, and start writing spec work
Put yourself out there on LinkedIn etc and try to get someone to hire you based on your spec work
Build your portfolio as much as you can

You don't NEED a course but there are things you need to learn. It's definitely possible to self study

I was in the first Copytribe and I don't reccomend it unless you want to freelance.

And OP sounds like she DOESN'T want to freelance. Any type of business you open is finding clients, chasing clients who don't pay, dealing with taxes and so much issues on your own, confidently selling yourself, it's a LOT.

I realized very quickly that it wasn't for me. I work in house now somewhere and yes I make much less than I could freelancing, but money isn't everything.

We are Baruch Hashem comfortable financially, we can afford everything we need without worry and some extras too while we save and my mental health and work life balance is amazing and it wouldn't be this way if I freelanced.

Some people love running their own business and find despite the stress and hardship it rewarding and enjoyable. I don't think I would.

If you are creative and love writing it's a big feild, marketing. You can go into content creation, social media, journalism, SEO and content/article writing.....and YES AI is changing things and it's prudent to learn how to use it, but we will still need human beings.
