Rantot hush - that’s one of the only Hungarian words my Hungarian grandmother used and I have yet to find anyone else who uses this word. We always used it growing up instead of the word schnitzel and my siblings were mortified. (Say it quickly)

It's mostly Hungarian words we remember from our childhood from our grandparents that came from Hungary, Romania, and neighborhood countries.

My in laws family speaks the real deal yiddish and they used words I never heard of. When mentioned here it started bringing back memories of way back when I got married. Words like-
Yinga tzveebel
Gedeensta tzeebel
Groilik
Showderlach( sils favorite word)
Eech shoyn zee
And many more. Keep em coming

Where was your saba born? If he was from Russia or Germany he wouldn’t have spoken a Yiddish that was half Hungarian, which is what most of this thread is.
