I don't mind that aspect. I don't like that the characters reason to divorce (so far) doesn't compare to divorced women I know.

Reading IMA threads also show women in terrible marriages who are still loathe to divorce.

Yes there may be women (or men) who divorce too easily, but I think the focus on this is a disservice to women who go through ghastly experiences.

Why can’t she get a job and live in her own apartment? Is she supposed to be 18 years old?

And she's sharing a room with her teen sister while her child is sleeping in the den... this whole story makes no sense.

Very immature writing.
Meaning The writer seems like a beginner.

Maybe there are people who are objecting to it because of the portrayal of divorce.

And if so?

People don't have the right to object to stereotyping and stigmatization of already vulnerable people?

Good point because they definitely won’t have a story about [filth] addiction in the Ami.

disagree mishpacha has written two stories abt pxrn, they just call it "shmutz" and because it is sucha common issue these days I feel like ami would totally address it

No. We’re discussing the quality of the writing, not the story.

the defensive manner in which the first few posters responded would suggest this. There's literally a thread on every serial, why the surprise?

Unfortunately among the younger crowd, this is an extremely accurate portrayal of what is going on. Girls married for 2-3 months, get divorced later because "they did not like him" or "he was not for me". I think this conversation is vital, especially now that divorce is becoming more common. People need to be aware, its the sad reality

Ami has covered this extensively so having a story on this makes a lot of sense for them.

I didn't find this one confusing, tho I'm presuming we'll get more info in the next installments.

It does seem to be poorly written. When reading this weeks installment I could not remember reading the one from last week. I was going to come on here to ask what the first installment was about.

It’s so easy to hire good quality editors. I don’t know why they seem to write on a low level on purpose.

So far I am liking the plot.
I relate to it very much.

It’s very common in my circles. One spouse normal with reasonable internet access, and the naive spouse that thinks the other is a complete kofer by having any internet access.

It’s not the immaturity. It’s the complete shelteredness she was raised with and all of a sudden her father expects her to understand that her husband is normal.

It’s the disconnect from what girls are taught to the realities of life. And the very common dynamics of a chasm that is created because of this idea of flip phone people and smartphone people.

I think if it was a prn addiction she would tell her father. It mentions that her father tried to tell her that Avigdor following the news is perfectly ok because it’s kosher entertainment so if it was more than news she would have told her father.
So far it seems that the story is about people getting divorced for no good reason, just from immaturity and lack of middos and perseverance. She is still a nebach, because in her view she fell in.

Her mother in law sounds horrible. I wonder if that also pushed her to leave.

Maybe later we’ll find out that he did have a prn addiction , or some other terrible anddiction / issue, and maybe that will be the moral of the story - that some young divorcees are viewed as self centred and immature people when really they were suffering tremendously and nobody knows what goes on by anyone behind closed doors.
But so far she just sounds like an immature brat.

Where did it mention her motherinlaw?

I don't think it's silly and unoriginal at all. I think that unfortunately, this short-sightedness does happen.

She rushed into a divorce thinking it would be wonderful and exciting. She planned fun nights with her friends in her spacious apartment. Now reality is setting in and it's not what she thought it would be at all. I didn't think that was silly...I thought that's the whole point of the story.

I don't like that Every single character is so blatantly stereotyped to such an insane degree. People don't act like this in real life to this insane extent.

Her father, on phone: "Hey I know you're finally out with friends but this kid of yours is crying and I'm not paying for your apartment anymore it's too much wet yourself back here.

Her Mother-In-Law: No woman is this forward before her son is married. They don't barge into the apartment, and bark "My son is amzing how come there aren't enough room for the seforim becuase he's a top boy and you know you stink" essentially.

Her sister: "You literally just got divorced, I'm not going to give you a second to grieve get out of my room and I'm in a rush because I have school tomorroe so I'm gling to push past you to get the shower but then I'll take a bath for an hour. Oh and I hate you because you're making people talk about us

She herself: Sounds shallow, an extreme caricature of women who are their husband's mashgiach.

The writing and the storyline: Seems not thought out. I'm not sure how far in advance the author needs to be of the publishing date but the blatant unoriginal copying of real-life events (the aguna plane) happened so recently that I feel like it is being written week to week. That would explain the over the top phraeseology, chat gpt-like writing, and overall lack of any emotional buildup, character development, or flow. Everything is haphazard and seems forced.

And using a real agunahs name with her plane situation.
