Too bad she was banned. I wanted to hear from her and she was obviously willing to talk about it.
Why she does it.
What types of lying.
How often.
Has she opened threads.
Does she do it in real life too.
Etc.

I'm slightly paranoid and will maybe change more details than necessary, but I always am seeking advice from a genuine place. Is this always ok, or if I change details too much is it against site rules? Like if I say my sister but it was my husband, or I say I'm younger than I am? If I am not doing it for a reaction, rather from a bit over the top paranoia, and my question is sincere, is that against site rules? |
The rules say "It’s ok to change tiny details to protect your privacy, like changing a daughter to a son, or the age of your child. But the essence of the story must be accurate and honest."
Whether something changes the essence of the story depends on context. For example, if it's about your daughter's thirteenth birthday party, if you change your daughter to a son, then the thirteenth birthday becomes a completely different type of occasion (a bar mitzvah) and therefore a different story. Changing your sister to your husband would probably change the nature of the story as well, because those are very different relationships. Aside from the honesty issue, you're also less likely to get relevant responses.
ETA:
Of course it also matters how much the story centers around these details. Like, if you just happen to mention the birthday party as a side point, or if it's about something that happened to your husband rather than something that happened between you and your husband.

What's the point if you're not necessarily getting honest answers?

To see how she lies maybe ?
Or what type of lies she says.

This should serve as a PSA.
Some anonymous posters are taken much too seriously, and the more attention they get, the wilder their stories become. Take everything you hear with a pinch of salt, and try not to get emotionally involved... Someone might be taking you for a ride.

Sometimes it could be people post a juicy story, looking for accolades. It doesn't necessarily have to be an info thread.

I got the feeling she was actually wanting to talk about her habit. Otherwise why create this thread?

I wonder if there are phony posts which make certain behaviors seem much more prevalent in the frum community than it is, like cheating.

Why would a grown woman even have a taavah for this?
BH she has been banned but who knows how many others on here do the same... |
It happens due to mental illness.
Fabricating stories and lying excessively are commonly practiced by people who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder. It's a fact.

Look at all the attention she's getting, and she's not even on the site anymore.

I'm just interested in knowing if she mentioned a specific posts where she lied for attention, and if I engaged her

Anyone else very curious which posts were hers? I know this is the internet… but I don’t go into pairs necessarily thinking people are lying unless something sounds fishy and now I’m curious

To feel proud she misled people. She got a kick out of it. But then she chickened out and edited her post proudly stating she fools everyone here for fun.

Wow, that's horrible. Women here put so much of their heart and spirit into supporting other imas going through a hard time. So callous to take advantage of that. Some imas here are incredibly empathetic and are truly moved by stories; I hope no one was upset or worried by something false that OP wrote.
