Am I the only one? Isn’t it a bit early? What do I do? Buy them more winter? It’s not spring for a while.. I don’t want to spoil them and buy extra things.. I also don’t want to discourage my DD when she tells me her dress is too short and she’s upset about it. (I agree with her) for reference, 7 yr old and 5 yr old girls

It's not spoiling them to buy them clothes if they've outgrown the ones they have. Buy them new clothes if they need them. But maybe you have some older clothes from your 7 yo for the 5 yo?

Bh they're growing! If it works for your budget, please buy them new clothes that fit. It's not spoiling them to have clothing that fit and feel comfortable.
And thank Hashem that you're children are growing.

Things are on sale. Get them what they need.
If their clothes lasted 3 months from October to January, they definitely need winter again for the next 3 months from January until April / Pesach.

How is that spoiling them??
They aren’t saying they are tired of their clothes and want new ones. They’re getting too small. That isn’t spoiling.

You’re scared to spoil your kids by buying them stuff that fit them ?? If you can’t afford to buy than I hear your dilemma . If you their clothes are to small and you have money to buy them more then you buy them more clothes . How is this even a question?

OP here- so they’re not really growing out of them (arms fit) just getting above their knee a little.. which I never cared but now I guess they’re getting bigger.. so is this standard? Does everybody buy winter clothing 2x every year?
Another option I have is to take down some hems.. but I think that is like $20 each no?

There’s no standard. Each kid grows at their pace. Very common to have a growth spurt mid winter. If they and/or the school cares about covering knees then they need new dresses/skirts.

Forsure sizing up helps. I always give my kids some room to grow into their things.

How are you spoiling them when you buy clothes that fit? It’s literally your job.
Go out and buy something cheaper, not from the frum store
There are so many types of clothes that can be worn well into the spring till the real heat begins

Yes you shop for your girls according to their growth pattern, and the same for boys. That won’t perfectly fit into seasons

Yes always size up at the beginning the season. Expect kids to grow. Of course if you buy exact it will be short in a few months. Also keep in mind that clothes shrink in the wash.
Buy now for next year, but they can wear it now also. So it will be a little big. That's fine.

Also, you can buy regular cotton clothes that are not season specific, so they will be for now and for the spring. They don't have to wear sweaters every day.

This. For now buy what you need but for the future buy with growth in mind. My kids grow fast but rarely need a new wardrobe midyear. I hem most dresses & let down as needed (free- I do it myself). We sometimes get a second year of wear too.
