Just now I told my daughter to go out of the room when she was bothering her brother. I used a raised and aggressive tone of voice and locked eyes with her in a way that meant "I mean business"

She looked at me surprised and stopped bothering him.

I was thinking that I usually yell or whine or talk or reason with my kids but don't usually use my voice in a meaningful authoritative way.

What about you?

As a new teacher, I once sat through an entire workshop on the different qualities of voice tone, volume, and that hard to define musical rhythm. literally made all the difference. Your voice can absolutely embody your authority in a safe way.

I generally speak to my kids in an authoritative way. If I scream once in a blue moon it’s because I’m completely overwhelmed.

This sounds fascinating.
Is there anywhere I can learn more about this course?
