Yes, it is age appropriate.
Actions being age appropriate, doesn't mean that children shouldn't be disciplined.
I did not see posts that said that the child shouldn't be disciplined.
I did not see a single post that said that OP is at fault & should drop what she's doing instantly.
You are twisting this to suite your agenda.
Hitting is not the only way.
And again, Hitting out of anger is a sin. You refuse to acknowledge that.

Please stop repeating that line. Not one person said that the mother had to obey her child. Multiple posters, including myself, have said that the mother should have acted proactively to manage the situation. While it might have happened to be what the child was asking for, it's not because the mother has to obey her but because it was the right thing to do independent of what the child was asking for. That is not the same thing!

That just like a judge has the authority to execute a murderer
A parent has the authority to punish a child.
Never said children are murderers.
Never said adults are always right

How about you read his book before you put it down? You might like a lot of what he has to say. He's from your generation and he speaks a language you would understand.

A judge's authority to sentence a murderer to execution is derived directly from the fact that a murderer is a murderer.
A judge also doesn't hold this authority in their own right but in their role working for the state.

A judge has the authority to execute a murderer, because they are a murderer & deserve to be murdered.
So what you're saying is that children deserve to be hit, just because they're children.

1. Almost always children who are not adequately punished hit their mothers. In 20 years there has not been one thread on imamother where a mother who potches said her child hit her. But I posted about a dozen links ( and there are More) of parents who are hit by their kids and they ALL say they never hit their kid.
2. There are many posts on this thread saying the child should not get any punishment. Go look.
3. Hitting in anger refers to excessive hitting or hitting where it is undeserved - parent mad because child accidentally broke something.
Giving ONE potch for pinching a mother repeatedly and lifting her skirt is deserved.

No I never said children deserve to be hit because they are children.
Stop making things up.
I said parents have the Authority to hit when their child did something extreme or dangerous.

Iād be surprised if a child under 20 would actually be chayav misa, though. On the other hand, bais din does kill a 13 year old boy who steals from his parents to buy and drink a cup of wine. |
Couldn't let this pass without comment.
If youre talking about Sorer Umorer, the halacha is there to teach us a lesson; it actually never happened at all because there are way way too many nuances for it to occur.

BB's had the same talking points for the past 6 years that I've been on here in regards to the potching. Nothing changes her mind, no matter how many times she is proven wrong. I didn't even bother jumping in here. I'd rather save my breath on other more important stuff.
I'm weighing in now cuz I see other getting blue in the face trying to argue. Just don't. You're accomplishing nothing and will be getting nowhere.

Hitting in anger does not mean excessive Hitting. It means even 1 potch coming from frustration/anger/trigger/loss of control, even if the child did something wrong.

The Torah authorizes parents.
And all 50 states give parents the authority

Where does the Torah authorize parents to hit as their preferred method of chinuch?

1. No.
2. It was once legal everywhere, but it is changing, and you oppose that. But it's not the equivalent in the first place, because parents who hit kids aren't acting on behalf of the state, and the state has no right to act without due process anyway.

So you think the only the state has authority over children
And not the parents.
That's communism
