ACME in my area has a sale for a flat for $4.99 with a digital coupon the second week in a row. Price without the coupon is $5.99 which comes to $2.40 a dozen. Cheapest in the area.

But they had a few recalls in a row. So I got scared off. I’m also pretty picky with my food, so I may be extreme in being turned off 🤷‍♀️.

Where is aldi in Monsey area?

I go to aldi in ramsey nj, right near airmont. Eggs were under $4, I was there Sunday. They had a limit of 2 dozen per customer.
There's another aldi in nanuet but I'm not sure if the prices are the same.

As a PSA eggs and other staples like milk are items which are often deliberately put on sale as a way to bring traffic to the stores on the assumption that once people are in the store they will buy other items that are more profitable - the proverbial loss leader.

That is why staples like eggs and milk are at the back of the store so that people are forced to walk down at least one aisle if not two.

Produce is generally at the front because the displays are an 'inducement" for shopping and many people will purchase on impulse based on how tempting the produce looks.

It is very easy to check pricing almost all of the grocery stores have their weekly sales posted on-line - generally on Wednesday when traditionally the new weekly pricing starts.

While most people don't have the time or inclination to run all over to get the best price on every item, it does save quite a bit of money to figure out which store that week will have prices for items that you need and then stock up on that item.

Los Angeles which is a high cost of living area so prices aren't generally cheap.

I didn't even check the stores which are known for inexpensive prices for staples like eggs - Trader Joe, Costco, Aldi, Walmart or some of the ethnic markets here.

This was a standard Kroger grocery store.

Are you buying in a small local store - that is very expensive.

Eggs last a long time so no reason not to stock up as you don't have to buy them every week.

Turns out kroger by me has eggs for 4.50, which is a dollar less than Walmart. So thanks for inspiring me to check.
