I rely on eggs a lot to keep my grocery budget down, usually at least 2 suppers are egg based and I eat them a lot for lunch too. Now they are $6!!!! a dozen and I don't know what to do. Help!

Personally I don't like them but my kids will eat them. I usually make a hearty bean soup once a week already.

Trader Joe's near me was under $3. Aldi was under $4. Lidl has eggs for $1.79 through shipt. Obviously, this is based on location. But I would look around for different egg prices if you can.

Where are you buying your eggs as that is
My local supermarket has a dozen eggs for $3.49 or I can buy 5 dozen for about $3.00 per dozen ($15.00 for 5 dozen)

Los Angeles which is a high cost of living area so prices aren't generally cheap.
I didn't even check the stores which are known for inexpensive prices for staples like eggs - Trader Joe, Costco, Aldi, Walmart or some of the ethnic markets here.
This was a standard Kroger grocery store.
Are you buying in a small local store - that is very expensive.
Eggs last a long time so no reason not to stock up as you don't have to buy them every week.

I’m in the tristate area and my local grocery chain sells flats of 30 eggs for $9, sometimes they are in special for $5. We stock up since eggs last a long time and between baking and meals we eat a lot of eggs.

Very location dependent. My local lidl- generally the cheapest store was about $6 end of last week. Near NYC.

Costco in Monsey was over $4, but I was hesitant to buy since they just had a massive recall due to confirmed salmonella.
All other non-Jewish stores near me were over $5/dozen. Even bingo was almost $5.50.
And I can’t even do beans due to allergies ☹️

If you're using them to bind baked food, substitute chia or flax. Obviously that's not helpful if you're using them for scrambling or hard boiling.

Chia seed pudding can be an alternative breakfast or lunch.
