You're meant to give 2 different foods. Some people hold if it's something that goes together, it doesn't count as 2 different foods.

My DH also said won't everyone give tons of cake and cookies challah is different.
Either way it'll probably end up in the freezer.

I like babka better--who wouldn't?--but as I am watching my weight and dh is watching his climb ever higher, I would prefer the challah. As long as you're already asking.

I usually send something baked and a chocolate. Was going to do babkas this year but then thought maybe challah and dips.
Challah is more useful but babka is yummier.

Source that dip isn't a separate item?

Something tafel, made to enhance a food, may not qualify as its own min since it's not meant to be eaten separately. While challah obscures hilchos brachos due to being hamotzi, you can still tell that it's tafel because if you served the dip with crackers or pretzels, you wouldn't make a separate bracha. It's not considered its own food portion to be included in the two required according to many poskim.

Oh, we know. Friday Purim is always a challah and grape juice. Maybe I'll do a Shabbos party theme

I hate to be disagreeable but I’ll take the challa. I’m actually thinking of someone whose challa we love (even though her babka is also delicious). I wonder if she’s here. Just in case, please send me one of your challas and a small grape juice. Happy Purim!

There are so many types of dips! I don't think this applies to everything equally
Um why was this hugged?

I have a solution for those who can’t decide whether to send challah or babka: send both.
