I live in a yishuv in Israel and there is no central place for things that our found. Either people post on a whatsapp group, or e-mail group, or put up a sign.
I was thinking of having a single location for drop-off/pick-up of lost items, and then when someone finds something they could bring it to me. Once a week I could post what items have been found. I could also take in requests for lost items.
Not sure if this service would be helpful, or just adding more balagan. What do you ladies think?

I could see it being helpful. But check with a rav about potential halachic issues. Do you have enough room to hold on to every single thing lost in your yishuv forever?

This. You need halachic guidance on how to run this. Once something is on your property, you stay responsible for it indefinitely. There may be ways to manage this, including signs and well-published policies. Check with your rav.
