Received a letter threatening that my kids can’t return to school after vacation until my balance from last year is paid up. Most of the balance is paid up but a few thousand is left. I have 9$ in the bank. I’m so stressed, any advice?

Work out a payment plan and commit to giving something every month. Even if it's only a little bit. I'd think they'd have an interest in getting their money slowly rather than not at all - which is what will be if they kick you guys out.

Wow, first of all your school is very understanding. I can't believe they allowed your children in September with a balance from last year.
So call, set up a meeting and disclose your personal financials. Hopefully they will figure out a way to work together with you.

What about this year? Are they counting this year's payments toward this year instead of last year?
I would start calling all my relatives to ask them to donate to the school, and specify that they should say it goes toward your bill.

1. Make a meeting with your ran asap. He is your advocate.
2. Make a meeting with mesila. Have them write a letter to the school for an objective assessment of your financials, including the amount you can afford and a payment plan that works.
3. Meet with the school.
4. Daven!!

I would speak to your rav first. I’d be surprised if it’s halachically permissible and perhaps he can advocate on your behalf

Not everyone has relatives with money.
