Cooking ready made food like breaded chicken or cake box is not homemade
I would never say my pasta is homemade if it’s from a box and jar of sauce but if asked I would say I made it at home (as opposed to picking it up at the store)
Btw homemade falafel is 100x better than any frozen or mix version. It’s a bit of a hassle to make but sooo worth it if you have the time obv |
I agree.
If you make your sauce for meatballs and one of the ingredients are tomato paste would you call it homemade? You do have to fry onions, add herbs and spices etc.
I would and do but someone on this site said it isn't as you used a can of tomato paste.

Homemade or not is not a metric I ever think of.
Just what's in the ingredients. I use store bought cake and waffle mixes with extremely clean ingredients. Ditto for pasta sauces and salad dressings.

Homemade. I'd say if you're combining ingredients to make something at home, that qualifies. Even if you're using a mix or prepared sauces. Doesn't have to mean from scratch.
Ready to cook stuff like pre-breaded schnitzel, idk. Maaaaybe homemade. Not sure how if I would include it.

I would. I think basic staples are understood. Nobody normal thinks a homemade cake involves grinding wheat into flour, or churning your own butter, or pressing your own oil.
