My 4 year old son had a hard time falling asleep because his arm was hurting. He didn’t fall or have have any injury or anything. He finally fell asleep with melatonin. He keeps waking up crying out in agony and falling asleep again. Do I assume it’s broken or sprained? What would you do ?!

Have it checked if it's hurting enough to wake him up at night

A kid could trip, or otherwise have a small fall and get a hairline fracture from how they landed.
I'd get that scanned.

My son tripped when he was little, and ended up with a double buckle fracture in his wrist.
OP please get it checked out.

Could be a dislocated elbow. It can happen really easily for a little kid. Look up nursemaids elbow: https://www.chop.edu/condition.....elbow
It’s not an emergency but can be very painful. The doctor can pop it back in easily.
