DD has been succesfullt pottytrained aince age 2.5, but I've always wiped her after #2.

She started Gan Iriyah at age 3, and they have to wipe themselves there. I just assumed that she does it with no problems bc I've never had poopy underwear from her.

Anyway, she just turned 4, and she was calling me to wipe her while I was busy, I told her "just wipe like you do at Gan", and then she told me that she never poops at Gan 🫢

Should I still be wiping her, or is it time I insist she does it alone?

I wipe at that age.
When they are 5 I tell them to start and call me to check on them.
We use flushable wipes

My kids never wiped themselves (for #2) before age 6.
It's completely not realistic for a child to know how to wipe themselves at age 3 or 4. They don't have the dexterity.
My kids also only poop at home.

When my ds was 4, another mom told me that he was giving wiping instructions to the other boys at school. I found that hilarious because I was still giving him a hand (see what I did there?) at home. 5 is my cutoff, although his older sibling likes to roast me by insisting that it was more like 8 or 9.

When my kids are around 3 I talk them through wiping on their own,and when they're "done", I wipe them. That way they get hands-on practice, and usually within a few months they are ready to wipe on their own.

Let them do it when somewhere between 3-4 but to have me check after they do it. By 5 I usually expect them to do it on their own. Also only with wipes. Waiting for the day they can use a bidet without playing with it.

Same. I tell them to try on their own starting late 5 or so, but I come to finish up because they are not clean until 6 to 8.

They only go at home.

My pediatrician said till 8 is normal. Depends on kids dexterity.
Also sometimes requires step by step
My 5 year old got the hang of it around the same time as my 8 year old

Same. But btw flushable wipes really should be thrown in the trash.

And for the person who asked why use wipes- it’s because they get you cleaner than toilet paper.
