A few years back we did 200, but now giving 100 is like giving 200 in regards to our budgets, the world finances etc. I hope the rebbeim won't judge/remember what we gave when we had them previously
I made sure to write a nice card so at least hopefully they know they are doing a great job and the lower amount is not a reflection of their work but of our finances...

I’ve always given $100 in the past. This year I just can’t. Not sure what I’m going to give

$100 for the rebbe, since the boys usually have just one.
Much less for dd's many many teachers

we try to give $500 plus (for the year) this year we are tight so not sure it will happen.
we live in a place where tuition is cheap and Rebbes are low income so we make it a priority.

I posted this on a different thread earlier today...
A gift, is a gift.
Give what you can afford.
No amount is considered cheap. It means you're showing appreciation, while still staying within budget.
And if one cannot afford a monetary amount, a nice card goes a long way too.

What is the point of this poll? To make people feel bad? Being a Rebbe is a career choice like any other job... Not to sound mean .

The point is I want to know what the standard is so I can base my gift off the standard

This is so school dependent.
Even within one town like Lakewood it depends on the school. In some schools 100 is considered low and other places 100 is considered high. Give what you could afford or don't give anything at all. Either is fine.
Chances are there will usually be someone who gives less than you and someone who gives more.

If your child's rebbe was actually from a wealthy family, lived in a nicer home, goes on nicer vacations- you would still give from maaser?
What makes that rebbe an ani?
This is not an attack- I am genuinely asking

No. If it was clear the rebbi was wealthy we’d give $100 maybe. But so far every one of my children’s rebbeim live extremely simply - ie making weddings in the cheapest wedding hall in town by far, making a vort in the yeshiva’s lunchroom which is not a simcha hall, to save money, driving very old and simple cars.
I even saw one rebbi going to a local food drop off place to get free food close to erev Shabbos.
