Is it normal that she literally "turns" 7-10 days before her period? I'm talking rage, bouts of crying and super moody.

There’s something called “PMDD” - you can ask your gyn. or her pediatrician about it. She might benefit from medication to take just that week or throughout the month. As hard as you think it is for you, it’s torture for her!!

So happy you asked this question. I literally can tell where dd is up to in her cycle by her mood. Just today she came home from school so insanely dysregulated, I was like heaven help me, we're getting to that time of the month. I was wondering to myself to what extent this is normal.

I wish it was ok and healthy to give her bc so she wouldn't get it monthly. On the other hand I'm so happy that she's regular and won't struggle like me.

BC can help some people, but causes mood disregulation in others, so it’s tricky. SSRIs are also recommended for some people. Some people are affected by fluctuations of both ovulation and menstruation. It could be tricky to figure out the right thing, but please address it!! Hatzlacha!!

I vote maybe common but still not normal. It's a sign of hormonal imbalance and inflammation usually rooted in liver overwhelm and poor gut health. Both bc and psych meds can help but they're a bandaid. An integrative medical provider can help you treat this by addressing the root causes.

I’m exploring this now with dd. You need to find a reproductive psychiatrist or gyn that deals with hormonal imbalances in teens. When I took dd to one, there were quite a few teens in the office. Dr told me bc can make it better or worse, IF indeed it’s a hormonal thing then it will work. Ask your pediatrician for recommendations in your area. My pediatrician was the one who told me about this, since. A different patient had similar issue and was resolved with bc.
Dd doctor told me There’s also a condition where psychosis occurs with menstrual cycle I forgot the exact name of it. I think psych meds are needed for that, not sure if the person takes meds constantly or only when expecting period.
Neither of these were confirmed with my dd, these are just things Dr told me as possibilities for dd crazy behavior by her period
