In the couple of places in Brooklyn that advertise fleishig donuts - think pulled beef or pastrami stuffing- the donuts are upwards of $10 each, so I would like to try to make them myself. Anyone have a recipe or even just some ideas how to do this? Bonus points for baked rather than fried!

When does it stop being a doughnut and start becoming a burger (or pulled meat) in a bun?

If you need ideas
https://en.goldys.co.il/shop/h.....ldys/
I’m assuming it’s basically a regular donut with a drop less sugar

It’s donut dough, baked inside, not put together with cooked ingredients. You don’t see the difference?

Thank you! I can probably use this as a basic recipe for some of ideas at Goldy’s.

So a hand pie.
Or a meat pasty.

My point is that food with dough on the outside and meat on the inside is hardly a new invention.

Quote:
A lihapiirakka (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈlihɑˌpiːrɑkːɑ], literally "meat pie") is an everyday Finnish food sold in supermarkets and often available ready-to-eat as street food. It is a form of savoury pie or turnover made from doughnut dough and filled with a mixture of minced meat[2][3] and cooked rice and cooked by deep frying.

It’s different because it’s donut dough but it’s not something I am invested in defending. I just want ideas lol.

The Goldy's ones are really good. It's regular fried empty donuts but obviously not coated in sugar. Sliced open with fleshing fillings. We got a whole selection a few years ago - our favourite was the shredded brisket.

Yum. That’s interesting, those really are like burgers and sandwiches then, just using donuts instead of bread.

I went out to eat on Sunday and they were giving free meat donuts for tasting. Really delicious, I was quite surprised! Had shredded meat in the donut and drizzled with some sort of sauce on top.
