I'm short, so the technically healthy number for my height is quite low. I used to want to get to that number, but not anymore. Having at my worst been 75 lbs overweight and currently about 60 lbs overweight, I'd be happy to just get to a point of being only 20-30 lbs overweight. To actually get to "normal" bmi would require way more effort than I'm willing to expend and the fact is, we now know that the research shows that an extra 20-something pounds does not cause health problems, so I don't have that incentive either. My goals right now are to be healthy, happy, and look decent, all of which can be achieved without going all the way.

I'm one of those that love being called skinny. Even those thin flat matza board, I get in awe of their waist line.
Not very proud of it. Just saying the reality.

My goal is a healthy BMI, although I know that’s controversial. I’m short and narrow and don’t look good with extra weight, but my goal is looking good rather than skinny. I’m not interested in looking malnourished.

Still, if ppl gush " you look so skinny!" I take it as a compliment. I know they mean slim. (And I'm not. I've just gone from certifiably obese to comfortably upholstered. And walking around sucking in my gut whenever I remember about it.)

Wouldn’t it be better if people would say you look fantastic? As a society?
I recently hear a mom telling her (ultra thin) daughter, don’t worry you’ll look really skinny….at the wedding.
Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to say don’t worry you’ll look incredible…..or amazing….

I’d love to be a size 6-8 instead of the 14 I am now.

Yea I'm a recovered anorexic. My goal is to look skinny. Even though I'm considered to be in a super healthy place right now. It's in my psyche.

I'm 140 pounds and 5 1. Yes I'd rather get slim and toned but if I "just" end up being skinny, I'll take the compliment

Not "skinny." Slim, sure. I'm 5' 6" and currently 165 lbs (just had a baby a few weeks ago). My ideal weight would be around 130, if I was fit and strong. Which I'd definitely prefer to being 115 and fragile.

Actually I like it when ppl say "you look so skinny." Because I have to work very very very hard for a long long time to slim down, harder than anything else I've ever done, and this acknowledges that specific accomplishment.
" You look amazing" can mean anything or nothing. It can mean "hello there (this is a social formula)""love that dress" "who does your makeup, I want her number" " I've never seen you in such elegant jewelry before" or even "I thought you died years ago, glad to know it's not true ."
"You look so skinny" doesn't mean I look like a famine victim or a fashion victim. It means "you're half the size you were before and it looks great."
Obviously I would feel differently if I struggled to keep weight on and looked, in fact, like a famine victim.

Growing up with a mother and sister who were 95 lbs while I was 120 and the “fat one,” yes I’d like to be skinny. I’d like to be fit, strong, toned, and very thin. I still want to have a shape/boobs and butt, but I want very little body fat. I’d like to be a size 4-6. I am currently a size 8-10.

If someone honestly tells you that you look better a few lbs up would you stop dieting? |
I’d love to be told I took skinny and have a tiny waist
Skinny is my goal.
And no I would not gain weight if someone said I’d look better that way.

I want to look skinny, I feel best without a bulging stomach which I can only achieve when I’m skinny, not just thin.
Having said that, I would rather be told I look good than being told I’m skinny.
Skinny is an observation and a fact. I look in the mirror, I can tell myself I’m skinny but being told you look good is a compliment and can go a much longer way.

Bosoms are mainly fat and so are rear ends. Just saying. And you need body fat to function as a woman if you get my drift.

Neither would I. Because IME-- and as a yoyo dieter I have a great deal of experience --people who say that are jealous. And in any event I would not change my life, looks or health because of one person who made a remark, unless that one person were my physician and the consequences of not changing were dire.

I'm 5.7 and weigh nearly 117 lbs (was 125 and lost a couple of pounds due to a medication I took).
Honestly I like to be this weight but I'm not sure how I look like in the eyes of other's.
