Hey, I’m wondering what to do and looking for leads. I have an idea for a niche toy (preschool age). I have no experience or contacts in the toy industry catering to frum kids.
Does anyone know what I can do with my idea?

Do you want to share your idea and have someone else produce it? Then maybe you can contact Yonasan Schwartz of Toys 2 Discover. He has a few lines of toys that he produces, including Kindervelt, Kinder Shpiel, and Chazak games

You can go on alibaba and have a few manufacturers make a sample. You will need good 3-d instructions/plans you can work with a graphic designer to do that’s

How does this work? How do I broach an idea and not have it stolen? I can’t patent an idea…

Ok, so first I get a graphic designer to make a 3d plan. Then I get a sample produced. What is the next step?

I understand patenting an idea is a huge upfront investment, but you are going to need to do that at some point if your idea is successful and you don't want it copied.
I would do some market research first to see if it's a good idea

Depending on the type of toy if it just needs a design patent..A design patent is not too expensive. (A utility patent is more costly)

OP, what type of toy is this? A plush stuffed animal type of toy? A toy made of plastic? An electronic toy? Would you like to protect your rights to its function or to its appearance? If appearance, then like Springgreen said, you would pursue a design patent. If its function is its unique feature, then you would want an utility patent.
However, if your toy is only useful to the frum world, I don't know how wise it is to invest in patent legal fees right now.
Either way, your first step would be to create a 3d model of the toy. You are not looking for any old graphic designer; most graphic designers are not trained in this. You're looking for someone who can create a 3d model in CAD. Once you have those files created, you can decide whether to pursue a patent or not and then find a manufacturer. Depending on what type of toy it is will determine what type of manufacturer you seek out.
And if you're in need of a patent illustrator, let me know! I have many years of experience in that field

My son does 3D printing, works in 3D CAD, and has made a few toy prototypes for people. You can message me if this is relevant to your invention.

I actually wanted to do this for years already. I have an educational game idea that I think he'd be interested in. Anyone know how to contact him for that?

Im curious if mitzva kinder regrets not getting patented. There r so many knockoffs and imitation

There r so many knockoffs and imitation | I definitely hear that, although I'm not that familiar with mitzvahkinder and their competitors. Do their competitors make exact look-alike dolls? Keep in mind, design parents are very specific in what they cover. It would not cover the entire concept of frum figurines; just the exact design of specific ones.

just because its creative doesn't mean its something that will go
how much can such a toy sell for
how much will it cost to produce?
make sure its something that you can make money off of
if it needs a mold , that itself can cost a few thousand ....
