With all the tuition threads and low pay for rebbeim threads, these headlines were a breath of fresh air tonight.

Do you think that will make tuition cheaper? No the ones lining their pockets until now will only thicken their lining. The parents won't know the difference. They'll still come after those that can't afford to pay.

I know their tuition is the cheapest but there are people with big families who can't afford even that.
Story I heard from the family involved. There was a well to do person who always paid tuition on time. He was told by the tuition department (or whatever it's called) that there's an account set up for people who can't afford tuition and if he wants to contribute to that account. He said no problem and for years he paid extra tuition. Recently his bil was niftar and the tuition department kept on calling the widow to pay up. She called her brother asking for financial assistance. He called up the tuition department to ask them to use the account they have set up for such situations and stop making this widows life miserable. They said there's no such an account. We don't know what you are talking about. Of course he got mad he said I'm paying extra tuition to pay for those who can't afford it and you are telling me now you just took my money and still demand those who can't afford to pay?
This story just explains where my previous comment is coming from. The rich will get richer and the poor won't feel a dent.

Satmer tuition is so cheap, it's laughable. There's no way tuition covers the salaries of the staff.

There's about a zero chance this story happened in Satmer.

Are the staff members rich? I don’t really understand what you’re mad about.

I think you are talking about NYC (Brooklyn) where vouchers are common and easy to get. That helps the mosdos very much. In Monsey where there are no vouchers, tuition is much higher even in Satmar.

Well satmar is pretty large, so the title didn’t give me all the details.

He’s the one behind shtender’el, right? From Williamsburg?

(Because if you open a satmar phonebook, you’ll find a few pages listed with yoel landau Wink)

No
They fundraise a ton. They also have wedding halls and other areas of revenue.

They have millions in deficit each year, hence the fundraising

Have you ever tried to calculate the payroll for one week? I have. There is no way in h*ll that the measly Satmar tuition covers the entire budget. Then subtract the tuition of a third of the people who get breaks. Anyone blaming the administrators with pocket lining are welcome to try the job for a couple o weeks. I’m sure the awakening will be rude and abrupt.
No, I’m not an administrator. I just know my math.

They are also pretty transparent on their budget breakdown
