I'm hoping to go for a week but I don't know anyone I can ask to stay at. I have a friend who said she's going to try to find me somewhere to sleep but she said she can't promise. I really need to book the ticket now before prices go up. Worst case if I can't find something for free, does anyone know of an inexpensive place to stay/room to rent? I'm yeshivish, living out of town, 40s, traveling alone.

The cheapest I've seen is 600-700 dollars for a week. Not comfortable posting but you can pm me if you'd like some leads in that price range.

if it's just you I've paid about 80$ a night for a studio on air b and b.
if you're not familiar with booking through them in Jerusalem, once you've put in Jerusalem use the map facility to see the area you want to be in and then look at host to see if he looks "our type", pictures of the property also help, IE does it look like a Jewish home .. etc.

So I'm just trying again if anyone knows a private family that might rent a room to a nice pot yeshivish lady in her forties who loves to host people in her own home and does chessed and won't be around during the day at all just a place to sleep and keep her stuff and maybe do laundry one time. I really need something inexpensive.

I think the problem is that Israeli apartments are small, and not many people have a spare room, or really want a stranger moving in on top of them.

If you look on booking.com, there are a lot of studios available at very discounted rates, because of the war. That might be your best option.
