Well.. they could only do that if op told them who the pediatrician is…
And it’s not like the pediatrician did something horrible…. She did diagnose a uti and did treat for it…. And she did say that if the antibiotics weren’t kicking in she would do something else.
BH the strong antibiotics through iv seem to be effective and this little girl will feel better and her mother can go home and get some sleep….
I’m tired for op, just reading this…

I am so happy to hear the progress bh! Regarding the pediatrician that's a no no. Even if you "like" the Dr. I would feel the nonchalant attitude is something to pay attention to. Maybe Hashem gave this as an opening to look into other options.
At the very least have a frank conversation about it with this original dr. Communication is everything. Much bracha and Hatzlacha you are amazing!

I like the way you're saying you're tired for me. Right now I'm still working on adrenaline mode. You have time to get tired when I get home because that's when the my trouble will hopefully not start.
It's no joke. In adrenaline mode situations I cope well and then boy do I crash. I'm a patient for a week. Fever and all. Almost always. I'm petrified for myself. We have a family simcha next week and I better behave.

I was in touch with my pediatrician throughout my child's ER visit which was Friday. But once shabbos came there wasn't a medical reason to talk to him so I didn't call or text. Ended up getting discharged late Friday night bh and when I texted him motzei shabbos he said the hospital had informed him.
So I guess maybe depends on the hospital or the situation. My Dr wasn't affiliated with the hospital

Even if the hospital doesn’t ask, I think they know. Maybe from insurance. Or any other medical records they have access to. Or by talking to the patient, even a little kid will say I got medicine from Dr _____.

Years ago I had similar story . Dd landed in er for a uti. Dr also didnt take us seriously. He was supposed to be top pediatrician.
But after that story I switched out of that practice. They had moved far from my house and it was a factory so this made me switch.

Since the hospital Dr is treating this patient effectively, I think op can just ask what he/she thinks about her pediatrician and if this would be a reason to switch.
It’s possible that the dr might say that it’s not so alarming.
It’s not like the BP pediatrician completely dismissed the patient. She did test her, treat her and said to come back in a few days if no improvement. She probably also said to bring her back if the fever gets very high.

Fever was high enough. 103 is not low grade.

A few years ago my dd was very sick and I told my pediatrician (top dr!!) that I think she has a UTI. He said no it's really not so common at that age let's do a throat culture. It came back negative. So I said so can we test urine sample now? Came back positive. He was shocked!
Drs should listen to mother's intuition!!!

High fever is not indicative of a sicker patient. It's only an issue of its high enough to cause brain damage (I think above 106)
The issue is more that the fever didn't break for so long

Ops dr did diagnose a uti, though. From reading the story, it doesn't sound like he did anything wrong, although of course it's possible for a parent to not like the bedside manner of a doctor & that's definitely their prerogative. His suggestions were exactly in line with the hospital's. The only difference is that in a doctor's office you can't necessarily perform certain tests in office the way you can in a hospital. You also can't put a patient on an IV.

Yes. I have some kids that will get a cold with a hundred three and I have kids that have had covid and the flu for a week with no fever at all. You need to keep an eye on their behavior to look for a dehydration or lethargy and also like you said, how long the fever is going on.
I'm glad OPs daughter is on the mend! There's definitely a certain peace in knowing exactly what is going on and seeing them start to feel better.

Ditto for Dr. Stock. He operated on my 2 yr old son for grade 5 hydronephrosis which he was diagnosed with prenatal. I don’t know why you say his bedside manners were lacking. He is a true mentch with a Yiddish Hartz. Top in pediatric urology. Had a wonderful experience bh.

I'm curious why defense perspective of the pediatrician. Re fact that she didn't have his proper insight and it had to leave on imamother is akin to him not being enough in this particular situation. I'm sorry but that's the fact.
The mom the op should decide what she feels is acceptable to her.
The Dr will always have patients but the child needs an in tune and on top of matters Dr for care.

Her doctor didn’t catch the dehydration that’s a problem. He also didn’t take the fever not breaking seriously. You start lab work and send them for a sono to see what’s happening. It’s basic protocol at 3 weeks of this. You don’t say let’s wait another week.
