I am careful about what I eat, but apparently I'm doing something wrong. I'm not going to go into detail about what I currently eat, as I'd like to hear your ideas first.
My triglycerides are in a healthy range.
My HDL is in a healthy range.
My fasting blood sugar is in a healthy range.
My weight is in a healthy range.
However, my HBA1C is high, and my LDL is high.
I need to tweak my diet. I have a few ideas what to try, but I'd love to know if anyone here has insights as to what can be causing those two factors to be out of range, while all my other factors are healthy.
Thanks for your insights.

LDL isn't as concerning as A1C.
Do you have PCOS? Insulin resistance is a feature.
Start cutting the carbs and retest in 3 months.
if you aren't exercising, start. That will help A1C and LDL.

Can you handle removing carbs from your diet?
I’ve been on extremely low carb and my numbers are improving. Iyh it should continue

Ok so I will say that I already strictly avoid all added sugars and starches. Hence the low triglycerides, presumably.
Other ideas?

Make sure the proteins you’re eating are animal based and high fat.
Also, eliminate fruit if you haven’t already, ( I know you said you stopped sugar and starch but not everyone realizes how high in sugar most fruit is …)
Sounds like you’re on the right track but if you’re a1c is still high you might benefit from keto/ carnivore lifestyle.

Interesting, that is literally the opposite of what I was thinking.
I did reduce my animal fats for awhile and my A1C went down. Lately I've been eating a lot of cheese as a quick protein, and both the A1C and the LDL went back up. So I was thinking I should go back to watching saturated fats.

Check out your cardiac risk on ASCVD. It may not be as bad as you think because it's not based only on Cholesterol unlike what the average PCP focuses on.

I would also think to increase proteins and limit fruit and starchy vegetables
Fruit - focus on lower glycemic index and avoid high sugary fruits like grapes and bananas
Berries are a good option

Check your thyroid.
Make sure whenever you eat carbs, you eat it along with protein and healthy fat.

Avoid all processed food.
Make everything homemade.
Check ingredients.
Unprocessed food has 1 ingredient per item.

Cut out bad oils/fats which are all except
Olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, grass fed butter, grass fed chicken schmaltz.
Which means minimize processed foods which have cheap bad oil/fat.
