Has anyone successfully used bloodwork to prove immunity instead of getting the mmr booster needed for kindergarten (pre1a) in my? Is it likely that a child who got one mmr at one years old will show immunity at 5.5?

Then you have people like me who can get the shot 30 times and for some reason I never have immunity.

yes, I did. I got mmr for my 10 month old, got blood work titers. I didn't;t get him the second dose yet he's 6

Right but when did u get the bloodwork done? I’m dealing with a kid going into pre1a next year. Last mmr was at one years old. Never did bloodwork…

Got blood work at a year and a half bc I wanted to avoid getting it again. I haven’t done blood work again since. Curious if he would have immunity. I’m not planning on getting him the second dose

If you're in NJ, you're in luck. NJ has a law called the Antibody Titer Law or Holly's law which was passed in memory of a child named Holly who dies after her second MMR. Her parents lobbied to have this law passed. The law is, that if a parent requests that the doctor check a child's titers before administering the second dose of MMR, the doctor must do that. Unfortunately, this is not done routinely. It's done only if the parent requests it.

I just had this. My child is going into pr1a and is due for the mmr booster. I got to the appintment and they said they’re giving him the MMR-V . I told them I only want the mmr not the varicella . They didn’t have only an MMR. The NP said let’s check the titers. She checked mmr and varicella titers and bh he has them so we didn’t give the booster
