The pants we’ve been getting are out of stock. Any suggestions for dress pants for a not skinny but not husky leg in boy sizes. Not ready for men’s sizes yet.

Op, did you try plaid & plain on Amazon? They're technically men's, but they have as short as 28" and then you can hem them more, if needed.
My super picky son rejected them, but they looked great to me.

I haven’t tried anything yet. Let me measure his waist see if that could work. Was the crotch not too long? And do you have a link.

My son size 16 slim said the plaid was way too big.

I tried a bunch of things and went back to TO because nothing else fit/ looked nice enough.

Eta I was told next is a good option, but I found the sizing situation overwhelming

TO isn’t coming in until January and I don’t think we can wait that long.

There are a few options of the Plaid and Plain. My son in 16 slim fit into one version, not another...I can try to look it up if you're interested (it was a few years ago that I bought).
But if OP's son isn't slim, no idea if that style would work for him...

He’s not heavy at all but doesn’t have very skinny legs and doesn’t like very tight. If it’s Amazon I have no problem taking a chance and trying if you’re able to try looking it up.

With any pants you hatta find the right fit. Plaid and plain has several different ones. Stretch. Flex. Dress.
When each young man found right one they converted from TO I've been told their more comfortable definitely wash and hold shape better not as heavy. And my pocket is happier.

I haven’t tried anything else yet, we’ve gotten TO since his bar mitzvah and that’s it. I don’t live right near a hatbox but may drive in if online doesn’t work out.

Here's one plaid and plain link, but like others said, there are a few different types.

I've found the plaid and plain pants to pimple after a month of wear. Anyone else have that?

Wow I ironed on light and they didn't melt but didn't really iron either really the extra crease only came out after a few washes and wears.
My son has the slim. He's short like 5'6" and the 28 and it worked well for him. They didn't pill either. I hang dry them.

I also came to post about plaid and plain. Lots of options for sizes and cuts. One ds is super sensory and said they feel like sweatpants, very soft but look like suit pants.

They've lasted at least a year by now, probably more.
Wash on cold cycle, hang to dry.
