I have a lady that comes to me twice weekly
I share her with a friend and my friend said she gave her a gift on thanksgiving
now I am wondering is it the normal thing to do?
any ideas what to get? (Obviously want to spend the least possible)
and I missed thanksgiving when should I give it ? Chanukah? x-mas?

I give chanuka time and say it’s for the holidays. I give cash (salary she’d make in half to a full week working at my house)

a neughbor used to give her mekusharim (mail lady, etc) little gifts for each holiday. so I copied her. chcolates on valentines day, socks on thanksgiving etc.
but you do you. an end of the year bonus is really sufficient.

They're the same date this year, so that would be a perfect time for gifts.
On the other hand, I've seen people here say they davka avoid giving gifts on Xmas, so if you follow that, maybe New Year would be a better time.

Many Poskim hold you may not give gifts in context of Xmas

Sounds nice but I spend money I don't have to pay her and I just don't have money for extras

I give for new years.
I give her a crisp $100 bill with a nice chocolate
For those giving for Xmas or valentines, you might consider asking if it’s permitted. They are x-tian holidays and might be forbidden to acknowledge it in a way of a gift.

I write card in her language wishing her happy and healthy new year. And thanking her for all she does. She comes to me 3x per week. I give equivalent of one time.

I give a little extra here and there when I feel she deserves extra for hard work. I don’t specifically give for any non-Jewish holiday because we hold it’s not allowed. Bus drivers and therapists who are not Jewish I give Chanukah time anyway. If it coincides with xmas we make sure it’s either 3 days before or after when we give.

I give Chanukah. I tell her it’s our Jewish holiday and how much I appreciate her help the whole year. I also try to give a couple gifts for her kids
