The only flip phone, as far as I know, that has WhatsApp etc, is the CAT . It's basically a smart phone that's flip.
My son said the qin probably can. And can probably add to other flip phones if you know how. You see how much I know
I am happy with my fig but it doesn't have email or Whatsapp

Ty op, I’m looking to do the same . I would love to hear about durability. Money is tight ish and I don’t want to spend 350 on a phone that breaks . If I do this, which is huge for me I want to know as best as possible that I’m getting durable phone so it can be a lasting change

It is a smartphone. It is a smart flip phone. It looks more kosher but it's really, truly no different.

Well if it doesn't have a browser it's not a real smartphone.

A CAT is a Smartphone but it's a flip phone so much harder to use and get addicted to. It's also meant for construction people and is very sturdy and tough. My son who's now in college (and also learning) has it because he needs WhatsApp and other apps. HOWEVER, he had it Tagged to block the browser and also the Playstore app. He 21 but wants me to approve apps for him when he requests them as needed.

BH this works for him. I was first nervous that it wouldn't be a functional phone (for navigation, WhatsApp etc) but BH it works pretty well but keeps the standards he wants and he specifically wanted a phone that makes it harder to use so he uses it more for functions he needs and not just to waste time.

Issues sometimes do come up. For some reason Uber didn't work in his phone (don't know if because of the phone or because of issues with the filter) but Lyft works fine.

Mostly he has Torah apps and functional apps (like Maps, Lyft etc) It's a great compromise for people that don't want to be in a real smart phone world but still have some important functionalities. Just note that his is Tagged with a filter....otherwise it's just a Smartphone (that's cumbersome to use).

The point would be that it would only have the things that are a necessity to me. I don’t like Whattsapp , but the schools I send to use it to update parents about important matters. The email is important as well for school information, shul information. I use gps on regular basis so I definitely need that.

It’s not a smartphone because I’m hoping that it won’t have any form of social media, no browser, no YouTube or video apps, no news. All it has is what I really need and use on a regular basis. This is as simple as I can get without missing out on essential information.

Yes TAG will do that with most phones. It doesnt need to be a special phone. But you cant have the apps you listed without a smartphone.

If you really want to get rid of smartphone you can buy a dedicated gps and ask the schools to switch you to a text only list. That's what my dh has because he has a dumb phone
