It is normal for an 8-year-old to constantly hug his mother?

My 8-year-old comes over to me throughout the day and throws his arms around me in a hug or sits on my lap while I'm working. He sometimes comes into my bed at night and hugs me. Is this normal? I have a bunch of kids before him and none of them were doing this at this age. He can't seem to keep his hands off me. It's super sweet and doesn't bother me at all (except when I'm trying to work and he's on my lap), but I'm just curious about it.

Its a personality type. My just turned 8 year old is very affectionate, he will hug you all day if you let him. He's very attached. My other boys aren't like that.

My son is like this too. He tells me that he wishes I can wear him (I guess in a carrier) all day. He's a happy and independent child but needs the physical affection a lot.
