I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out watching an episode where someone died. there's so much to cry about IRL and I do. this moment makes me wonder if it's common to react this way when watching something made up.
I'm also interested as to which show and which occurrence made you cry really hard.

The Handmaid's Tale - Season 2, the first time June gets to talk to Hannah after the abduction. When Hannah asks her why didn't she come for her, she waited... I lost it.

(and yes I read both books)

I cried like a baby when Lexie Grey died in Grey's anatomy. I felt like I lost something precious.

Greys anatomy has lots of tear inducing moments like the one where the man ends up being George. Not going into detail as it’s a spoiler.

The West Wing has an episode where one of the main characters has PTSD and the other characters are so caring and it made my cry my eyes out because I remembered feeling so alone in my PTSD with no one caring or helping as a teen, and it was weirdly jealousy inducing and cathartic at the same time to see things play out so warmly for him.

I don't remember specific episodes but I do remember crying on multiple occasions while watching This is Us. Also cried a few times while watching a million little things.

Pretty little liars when Hanna's mom went to prison. My father went to prison for something he didn't do and I bawled by that part .

OP, it is absolutely normal to cry at TV shows. I have cried at so many episodes. Or even clips .. I just saw a heartbreaking clip of a TV show I don't watch regularly.. so I wasn't even connected with the characters...and I still teared up.

Another Greys crier here.
When Derek died I absolutely sobbed - and laughed at the same time because why am I crying for a TV show. But now, any scene with snow patrol "chasing cars" will get me teary.

what's wrong with me that derek dying didn't make me cry? it didnt devastate me. but much smaller roles dying had me feeling a deep sorrow.

Imma take a guess that it was Coco.
Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, there's waterworks every time. My husband knows not to poke fun by now. LOL
