What's your favorite mitzvah or Jewish event/ Celebration?

Mine is a hachnasas Sefer Torah.
There is something about it that makes me so internally happy.

Share yours!

I love the monthly excitement and renewal.
And yes, I've been going for about 2 decades minus pregnancies.

Of course.
Want to elaborate why you chose these two?

Shiluach Hakan because of the Brachos it brings with the Mitzvah and I love having people over!

Having a baby, I love that in our community each baby/neshama is so celebrated. It is such a gift and such a beautiful thing how we value children and life.

Not sure this is what you mean but for a while already my Favorite Mitzvah is answering Amain aloud, to families Brachos. Also in public.

I love baking challa. I daven cry talk to hashem- and best of all I can do it in my house at my convenience any time I want. Zero time restraints. I pick a quiet day (sometimes) . No zmanem . No rush for the bell. Just me my challa and hashem

I love lighting Shabbos Candles.
I also love Tashlich- greeting the King by the water and asking Hashem for us to be like the water that doesn't move an inch more than what Hashem allows it to- we daven that we should be able to keep the mitzvot so exactly. It also reminds me of Hashems strength and vastness that nothing is too big for Him and I can daven for whatever I want and need.

Also not a mitzvah percay but "Veahavta leriecha Kamocha" This really resonates with me in recent years. I really see that it is impossible to love others fully if you don't love yourself. When I find myself not being able to give to someone completely or if I'm jealous of someone it reminds me to take a deeper look in myself and figure out why and what is missing. It reminds me to fill my cup so I can be there for my family.

I LOVE sitting and eating in the sukkah. It just feels so cozy, family and friends together in a tiny hut, no distractions and minimal material needs met, to be close to Hashem.

I also really like tznius. I like that I don't need to dress to attract men, but also that the whole concept is dressing respectably for yourself and Hashem, and I don't need to dress up to impress anyone. I dress modestly out of respect for halacha and respect for myself and also out of respect to others that I don't need to flaunt something materialistic for them to find value in me. I am a neshama wrapped in a body wrapped in clothes, and our neshamas and our hearts and our minds can meet without trying to impress anyone with externals, we can meet our true selves. For me, modesty let's the real me have more value than what I wear.

Also tzedaka - I like giving to others and also the idea that Hashem controls how much money we have and we should focus on giving to others and let Hashem worry about us.

I also really like saying tehillim, though not a mitzvah per say. But I struggle tremendously with davening, so being able to have tehillim as a form of praying to Hashem in which I can choose what perakim to say based on what I connect with or what I feel like or how much time I have, is a really meaningful way for me to connect to Hashem. Also, I love being able to say Tehillim because it is for other people, the idea that I can ask for Hashem to help others is really meaningful for me, like when others are going through health problems or mental health challenges or in dangerous situations or for them to find a spouse or have children, that there is something I can do that may positively affect the outcome for their well-being.

(Also, does eating cheesecake on Shavuos count LOL ? I make a bracha before and after, so that's mitzvahs. And I like it because I like cheesecake Laugh ).

Shabbos
Shofar. Dunno why but I love hearing it even tho it can be stressful to get to shul on rosh Hashanah. It feels powerful and comforting at the same time. Like, oh right! Ur in charge G-d! And here I am!

On a personal level, lighting shabbos/ yomtov candles. I'm not great with davening to be honest - sometimes I just won't at all; other times I do but it feels so rote. But when I light my candles each week it feels like I'm talking to Hashem face to face, no barriers, no distance. It's my favorite part of every week.

On a family level, Shabbos. I truly wonder how families can survive without. The electronics go away: the phones, the laptops, Alexa, etc. and we have this precious time together to really talk and connect. No distractions. Best day of the week by far.

It IS a mitzvah per se. Leviticus 19:18, right after the prohibitions against taking revenge and holding a grudge. There are various interpretations as to exactly how one accomplishes this lofty goal.
