When they post devastating news (for example about tzvi kogans murder) and the next slide (5 seconds later) is about a cute outfit they found.

When you heard the news did you go to work after? That is their work.

What do you expect them to do? What did you do when you heard the news?

It wasn't an advertisement for a dress that they made money off,if that's what your implying.

This may be true but the dissonance is much more jarring when you scroll through reels or stories that literally go from one extreme to the other in seconds.

I feel like they can’t win. When they don’t post it at all they are bad for ignoring it, when they only post sad things people complain that it’s their place they go to unwind so why is it so depressing… whatever they do will always be an issue. Now they also can’t post it among regular things which really does make the most sense from all the options..

How do you know?

Also, even if not everything posted is directly earning them money- it’s indirectly growing their business. They need to stay active and engage followers and a part of that is constantly posting stories or posts. This is her business and parnassah

Another thing to keep in mind- just because you see it as the next story, doesn’t mean it was posted immediately afterwards. For all you know it was hours apart

How is it any different from seeing a sad post on Imamother by someone who has $1.20 in the bank and rent due, followed by a post on being ISO some frivolous luxury goods?

It isn't, really.
But those posts are by different people.
I wrote up thread that the dissonance is jarring. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are doing anything wrong. Life does go on. I mean how does anyone go about their daily business, out to restaurants, go on vacations, shop for items that aren't strictly necessary for survival with all that's going on around us?

Would you rather they not acknowledge it ? This is their business.

If you don’t like it don’t be on Instagram, at least not that day. (I try to avoid Instagram as much as possible for various reasons.)

I hear you in that some sort of “in between” post would be less jarring (such as I’m in pain but I need to keep going for my kids etc).

What’s worse than this kinda thing, to me, are influencers who posted their day to day life with somber music and some text over the video.
Such as one I saw who posted her kids at the park with sad music and some text saying how sad she is and today is an awful day. Like pick one. But I just skip over it and move onwards. Actually I closed insta that day because it was too hard for me.

I hear how it can be disturbing.

However, this is the world we live in today. This is how the news works. This is how radios go. This is how it is when you’re watching a video and there’s an ad.

We are interrupted with sad news all the time and we just move on.

Get off instagram. Best decision I’ve ever made.

If you’re looking for a replacement, threads is a fun app.

EVERYTHING an influencer posts is to make money. The name of the game is drawing people to your page. That's how they make money.

Should really start a spinoff, but tell me more about threads, I'm so curious. I'm on insta but couldn't not be bothered starting with another social media...
