I'm 15 years out of sem, but I'm currently working in a high school that is middle of the road. All of the girls are applying to the seminaries mentioned in previous replies. One that I haven't seen mentioned here, though, is Peninim. I don't know what it's like now- I had a couple of friends who went there (again, 15 years ago). I'm just throwing it out there as the school I work in is middle of the road and there are girls applying there who are applying to other sems mentioned above. Good luck op!

They said that the middle was disappearing. That they’re too frum for one demographic and not frum enough for another.

Yes
But how can they switch their clientele that fast??
Where will the girls who came to them in prior years go?

my daughter is in dB this year for her second year. no switching overnight planned, a slow move toward more by yes. and believe me it's for the best for most girls.
re hiding phones and bringing them out...are you kidding? these girls are often caught and asked to leave ...there is no messing with rules and I wouldn't send a child with the idea she can flex the rules.
it may be worth reminding your daughter that often the sems with brick fones (machine Raya for ex) have a computer room for emailing and even zoom and BC the girls are all in it together it's more of an adventure than a mega mega restriction, I've sent to these types of sems too and mine have been rly ok with it ....it sounds worse than it is. just to keep in mind.
op I wld more consider and think about her anxiety. imho girls who arrive at SEM with anxiety need extra support....a place like michlala while wonderful academically is for the straight girl who needs less personal care.
dB is wonderful with care, has social workers, pa on site a few times a wk, wkly meetings with machenechets.
I would also consider midreshet tehilla as a warmer, nurturing environment. just keep in mind the campus (nevei) adds to the flavour.

Could be, I'm not so in the scene. THis was about 7 years ago. But my guess is that they would still see it as a mistmatch. The fact is it's a bais yaakov sem that wants solid BY girls and from that perspective, a girl that is also applying to a MO sem is just not the right fit. Not that they thought I wasnt a good girl - MMY was and still is known to be a school for a very serious crowd, great girls, but almost all are coming from non-by schools and it's just a different hashkafa. And honestly, they were right that I was a bit confused about my hashkafa. I came from a mixed types high school and didn't really know where I was headed.

I don't think this is correct. She might be mixing it up with another sem. I would double check because from what you said Midreshet Tehila could be a really good choice for her

Definitely. Maybe Midreshet Lindenbaum (since it also starts with "Midreshet").

They all have email available for the girls to send and receive pics. It doesn’t have to be limited to a smartphone. That said, it’s extremely believable that in today’s culture a girl who has gotten used to having a smartphone accessible at all times wouldn’t want to be without, and while it’s a shame for her to possibly miss out on an amazing seminary choice for her, it doesn’t make her extreme or in immediate need of therapy. It’s perfectly normal. How many of us would willingly give up our phones for a year?

In which of those sems do you need to cover legs? MT doesn't say so in the tznius code
