My 4 year old is always with his hand in his pants. It drives me crazy. He has been doing this since he was a little baby.

Can anyone tell me if you had this with tour child and how you dealt with this? Is there any way to get him to stop? Sad

I've redirected since babyhood to their belly button. I think that's why Hashem created it. Belly buttons are great fidgets.

I call the private part the "Makom Habris" and tell them that it is special and we touch it only for mitzvos. (Going to the bathroom is a mitzvah too if you are okay with them touching then.)

I-g-n-o-r-e

I had one teacher who went crazy from it. She gave him keys etc…
As soon as he left her class it stopped being an issue- because we just ignored it.
During that year we sprayed a numbing spray…

What do you mean you sprayed a numbing spray?

My DS did this all the time from about when he was 3 until 4. To the point where his morah complained about it. I was so embarrassed.
He is now closer to 5 and rarely if ever does this anymore. Bh! I used to just remind him we don't touch when we are outside.

My 4 year old does it too all the time. Every time he goes to the bathroom his hand immediately goes there. No solution yet though…

4 year old son who does the same. We've always told him it's not clean to touch because that's where his pish comes from (and he gets that). But I've been seeing a lot of posts recently about different more positive ways to discuss boy's private parts with them and why they shouldn't touch it. So I don't know if our approach is good long-term. I'd love to hear some positive redirecting phrases others have used!
Also, while we're on the topic, HOW DO I GET HIM TO STOP STAY TUSHY POOPY COMPULSIVELY ALL DAY?! Drives me nuts and is so embarrasing when we're out shopping. Can't Believe It Can't Believe It Can't Believe It

Oh my goodness. My son says those words all day too! And then sticks his tush out! We started telling him that if he talks dirty he needs to be in the bathroom and we take him there. So far seeing a slight improvement.

It's totally normal! Just tell them to do it in the bathroom or their bedroom. Don't shame them. I have students who do it sometimes (I teach autism kindergarten) and I say hands out of your pants, go wash. That's it

He should be touching it when he goes to the bathroom. That's normal.

Not touching to aim. He touches the textured part underneath. Pretty sure it’s a sensory thing.

I think unless he's touching it in public don't micromanage it. It'll make it a bigger deal in his mind and probably cause more of it.
