I've redirected since babyhood to their belly button. I think that's why Hashem created it. Belly buttons are great fidgets.
I call the private part the "Makom Habris" and tell them that it is special and we touch it only for mitzvos. (Going to the bathroom is a mitzvah too if you are okay with them touching then.)

I had one teacher who went crazy from it. She gave him keys etc…
As soon as he left her class it stopped being an issue- because we just ignored it.
During that year we sprayed a numbing spray…

My DS did this all the time from about when he was 3 until 4. To the point where his morah complained about it. I was so embarrassed.
He is now closer to 5 and rarely if ever does this anymore. Bh! I used to just remind him we don't touch when we are outside.

My 4 year old does it too all the time. Every time he goes to the bathroom his hand immediately goes there. No solution yet though…
